At Msichana Uganda, we recognize the critical role that women and girls play in addressing climate change and building resilient communities. Our Women & Girls in Climate Change Program focuses on empowering women and girls to become agents of change in mitigating the effects of climate change and adapting to its impacts. Through a combination of education, advocacy, and community engagement, we strive to promote gender-responsive climate action and ensure that women and girls are central to efforts to create a more sustainable and equitable future.
Our Approach
Education and Awareness: We provide educational resources and training programs to raise awareness about the intersection of gender and climate change. Our workshops and outreach activities empower women and girls with knowledge about climate change impacts, mitigation strategies, and sustainable practices.
Capacity Building: We offer capacity-building initiatives to equip women and girls with the skills and resources to participate in climate action actively. From leadership development to practical training in sustainable agriculture and renewable energy, we empower women and girls to take on leadership roles and implement climate-resilient solutions in their communities.
Advocacy and Policy Engagement: We advocate for gender-responsive climate policies and programs that prioritize the needs and rights of women and girls. Through our advocacy efforts, we work to ensure that climate policies and initiatives address the unique vulnerabilities of women and girls and promote gender equality in climate decision-making processes.
Community Resilience: We support community-led initiatives that enhance resilience to climate change impacts, with a focus on women and girls. By promoting sustainable livelihoods, access to clean energy, and natural resource management practices, we empower women and girls to adapt to climate change and build resilient communities.
